From their formation in 1994, San Francisco’s Deerhoof has been a key (yet subtle) influence on the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Grizzly Bear, St Vincent and Flaming Lips. It goes without saying, then, that the band’s avant-esque noise (as much loosely experimental as concise, Ramones-like punk/pop) is up there with the very best.
