One Day, Something Happens: Paintings of People

With the British Arts Council Collection to draw on, curator Jennifer Higgie was spoiled for choice in selecting figurative work from the 20th and 21st centuries. There are pieces by Walter Sickert, Lucian Freud, David Hockney, Rose Wylie (the subject of a solo show at the Douglas Hyde in Dublin), Ryan Mosley, Michael Fullerton and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye (Condor and the Mole, 2011, left) who disappointed on last year's Turner Prize shortlist.
