Formerly a singer and songwriter for hire (for which he has been thanked, no doubt, by the likes of Kanye West, Lauren Hill, Jay-Z, Janet Jackson and Alicia Keyes), Legend has since forged a remarkably successful solo career. The apogee (so far, anyway) is winning an Oscar for Best Original Song – Glory from the movie Selma. Two words? Class act.
