Defining the word "mordant" isn't easy, but US singer, songwriter, arranger and composer Randy Newman doesn't do things the simple way. Newman's work is probably known more by short people under the age of 12 (he has scored a load of Disney and Pixar movies, including the Toy Story trilogy) than those over the age of 40. The latter demographic, however, can expect mordancy and mirth in equal measure.
