Every year, Derry-born guitarist Tommy Halferty plays a benefit concert to raise money for the street children of Burkina Faso, where his wife Annie works as a volunteer teacher. This year, giving it up for an excellent cause are the guitarist’s Brazilian quartet with Latin drum master Conor Guilfoyle, pianist Greg Felton and bassist Derek Whyte, plus support from the Merrion Gates Jazz Band.
