How do you get to the gig?If the hotel is near we walk. I don't like taxis much, they make me nervous.

What's the best gig you've been to?Probably My Bloody Valentine and Dinosaur Jr on the rollercoaster tour at Brixton Academy. I think it was around 1992. MBV were incredible that night, and I was so overwhelmed I was sick in my mouth when Dinosaur Jr played Just Like Heaven.

And the worst?I saw U2 at Wembley Stadium when I was a kid. It was during the cowboy hat phase. Not my cowboy hat phase, obviously.

Ecologically speaking, are you closer to Radiohead or Motörhead?Motörhead.

Who is the most famous person to have shown up at one of your gigs? One of the actors from 24apparently came to a show last time we were in America. I'm not sure if he turned up in the end, though.

Most embarrassing on-stage moment?Every time we play a show it's embarrassing in one way or another.

What's your crowd-pleasing number?Probably Electro Karaoke, which we play at the end. I think it's because I'm not singing on most of it.

Chatting between songs – good or bad?I don't like it. I think it's a bit painful for the performer and the audience.

Groupies – would you?No.

How many roadies does it take to change your lightbulbs? There's the four of us, then our manager and sound engineer, so that makes six.

Have you a special stage wardrobe?I recently bought a couple of shirts from Primark for £4 each. I like to dress up when we perform.

Do you like to meet and greet fans after the gig?Yeah, sometimes. Matthew is the most gregarious of all of us.
