An oil by William Conor called House Across the Street made £25,000 in the picture sale earlier this month at Thomas P. Adams & Co of Blackrock, Co Dublin. A water colour of James Joyce by Louis Le Brocquy sold for £5,700 in the same auction, while George Campbell's Travellers' Encamp- ment made £4,200, the same price as Tom Carr's Sheep Grazing.

Other prices achieved include: £4,000 for James Humbert Craig's Spring Time, Cattle Grazing, Co Donegal; and £3,000 for Aloysius O'Kelly's The Old Town of Concarneau, Colin Middleton's Evening Sun and Augustus John's oil of a washer girl.
