Three Liebherr cranes pass Cobh town Co. Cork on their way to New Jersey. Described as being “the largest single objects ever engineered in Ireland to be shipped out of the country”, the cranes are destined for the Maher Terminals in the Port of New York and New Jersey, the largest ocean container terminal in North America. Weighing some 6,000 tonnes in all, the three Liebherr cranes will each be 150 metres high when fully assembled on site at Maher Terminals after a sea voyage of ten days. Unusually, the cranes are being transported partly assembled, as they will have to pass under the Bayonne Bridge connecting Bayonne in New Jersey with Staten Island, which has a clearance of 66 metres. A picture taken with a drone shows Luoxingdun stone island in Poyang Lake, Jiangxi Province, China. Severe drought exposed ancient Luoxingdun stone island in the middle of dried Poyang Lake in East China. It's the first time in 71 years that the historic island can be fully seen. East China Jiangxi Province has been experiencing severe drought since July 15. About 655,000 people have been mobilized to participate in the drought relief campaign in the province that is suffering economic losses of 147 million euros. China's long-running and severe heatwave caused a record-breaking drought across the country, causing some rivers to dry up, including parts of the Yangtze river.
