A boy (6) has died following an incident at a hotel pool in Co Offaly.
Inquiries into the boy’s death following the incident at the Tullamore Court Hotel on Sunday are being carried out by gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).
The hotel management extended sympathies to the family of the boy who died following an incident on Sunday evening.
The hotel confirmed there was an incident at the hotel pool and said emergency services responded quickly.

The child was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital and was later transferred to Crumlin hospital in Dublin.
“It is with great sadness we have been informed that the child passed away on Tuesday, 31st May. We offer our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones at this difficult time. The thoughts of all our team are with them. We would ask everyone to please respect their privacy,” the hotel statement said.
Gardaí said they are investigating and a file will be sent to the coroner’s court.
The HSA told the Tullamore Tribune : “I can confirm the HSA are aware of this incident and the relevant enquiries are being made.”
Local sources indicated the tragedy occurred after a boy got into difficulty at the hotel swimming pool on Sunday evening.
