A motorcyclist in his early 20s has been killed in a crash at a race near Kells in Co Meath.

The single vehicle crash happened at a closed racing circuit in Crossakiel, west of the town of Kells at approximately 1.30pm on Sunday. The motorcyclist, a man aged in his early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to Navan Hospital. It is understood the man was from Northern Ireland.

The Supersport Race at the Crossakiel circuit was the first national motorcycle road race meeting in Ireland since 2019, with the last two years’ events being cancelled due to Covid.
