The death has taken place of Patrick Kriégel, the father of the murdered schoolgirl Ana Kriégel.
Mr Kriégel died peacefully at home in Leixlip, Co Kildare, his death notice read, adding he would be “sadly missed by his loving wife [Geraldine], Aaron, Bruno, Nathalie, Phillippe and all his loving family and friends”.
His funeral will take place on Thursday at Newlands Cross Crematorium at 2pm.
In November 2019, two 14-year-old boys were found guilty of Ana’s murder. It made them the youngest people in the history of the State to be convicted of murder. The boys were 13 at the time of the murder in Lucan, Co Dublin on May 14th, 2018. She was 14.

In a brief statement outside the courthouse after the convictions in November 2019, Mr Kriégel said: “Forever is not long enough. Please remember Ana and keep her in your hearts, somewhere.”
