Ireland’s Leonora Kennedy and Monika Dukarska qualified for the A/B semi-finals of the double sculls at the World Championships in Chungju, Korea, yesterday. The Enniskillen/Killorglin combination, a new crew, finished second to Russia in a repechage in which three boats qualified.

Russia led from early on and Ekaterina Potapova and Maria Krasilnikova were a boat length clear at the finish. Korea were third.

In a major shock, Olympic champion Mahe Drysdale, exited in the quarter-finals of the men’s single sculls, finishing fourth.
