Aisling’s Picks: Eyeshadow wolves, easy root touchup spray and a great skincare range for teenage skin

Beauty picks of the week, from AYU makeup brushes to YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipstick

L’Oreal Hair Touch Up (€14.95)

Anything that puts off that dreaded hour in the hairdressers chair having colour applied always gets me interested. With a tiny, almost needle like applicator you can apply this spray in a very targeted manner and blast any greys that have the nerve to pop up. Available in four shades, from black to blonde (sorry redheads) this is handy and it works.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture (€33)

A collection of four statement lipcolours in bright reds, orange and a softer nude shade. With a satin finish these are bold, rich, lippies, inspired by the glamour of times past, which look just as good today

Kiehl’s Peter Max Holiday Collection

Every year Kiehl’s collaborate with a designer to produce a quirky and colourful edit of some of their bestselling products. It’s the turn of pop artist Peter Max this year and his designs grace the packaging with an explosion of colour. Great fun and will make super gifts.

AYU Brushes 11 Piece Kit (€57)

I am usually an "unbrushy" person and if I can get away with putting makeup on with my fingers I will. I know this horrifies brush fanatics, but I've just outed myself now and I'm fine with it. However I've been using AYU brushes lately and am impressed by the quality and price. All brushes are available individually. ayumakeup.ie

Eve Taylor Teen Skin Actives (from €8.95)

Treating hormonal teenage skin requires a lighter touch than most of us imagine. Don't dry up skin with harsh chemicals and alcohol laden formulas that will make the situation worse. An affordable range with natural oils like this one will regulate the skin's Ph level and calm everything from spots to shine. cloud10beauty.com

Elave Sensitive Skin Balancing Cleansing Gel (€14.95)

This is a cleanser that is so good that everyone with sensitive skin should have a bottle of it on their bathroom shelves. (You can also feel patriotic while slathering on this homegrown Irish brand). It is suitable for every skin type, contains many natural skin friendly ingredients including a fair whack of Manuka honey, Camomile extract and Vitamin E, to balance and soothe.

Chantecaille Protect the Wolves palette (€85)

I adore Chantecaille’s animal themed palettes and this one is dark and moody, with deep shades in forest tones. Wolves are not a protected species so the fact that a percentage of the profits goes to a conservation charity makes splashing out on these shadows a philanthropic must. Well, that’s how I justify things to myself anyway.
