Lisa Lú, aka Lisa Byrne, is an Irish stylist and milliner who has just unveiled her first collection of Jazz Age-inspired cloches – in time for the advent of the third series of Downton Abbey (tomorrow on UTV). Her bespoke, handmade cloches capture the look and feel of the 1920s and are in mostly muted tones with subtle embellishment in the form of beautiful embroidered ribbons and lace.
One standout design from Byrne’s debut collection breaks the muted mould with a rich raspberry shade that is eyecatching as well as flattering, even on the palest of Irish skin tones. The hats are moulded and hand-stitched in Ireland by Byrne, in her studio in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow. The cloches start at €250 and are made to order to customers’ specifications.
