From modest beginnings in her home in Castlepollard making hand-printed silk scarves, Helen James has expanded her range to include bags and dresses and worked her way into becoming an Irish success story.
Oscar- winner Markéta Irglová wore one of her wraps at the ceremony this year, and costume designer Consolata Boyle wore one to the 2007 Baftas.
James' current collection, her sixth, features a new line of luxury handbags made in a small specialist workshop in London, using fine leathers sourced from the UK and France. The linings and dustbags are made using her own hand-printed fabrics.
Her label can now be found in 10 Irish boutiques including Costume in Dublin, Kalu in Naas, Khan in Mullingar, Juju in Greystones and Macbees in Killarney. www.helenjames.ie
