Enniskillen honours adopted son Samuel Beckett with a third international festival in his name. Theatre collectives, dancers, visual artists, literary scholars and musicians pay homage to the doyen of the absurd, with interpretations of his work presented in languages from French to Yiddish. In an appropriately surreal twist, the town joins in the madness, with butchers cleaving up Beckett burgers, barbers snipping Beckett hairdos and cafes serving Clov and Hamm sandwiches. Highlights include Theatre NoNo's En Attendant Godot (left).
The Happy Days International Beckett Festival runs from July 31st to August 10th. See happy-days-enniskillen.com. Laura Francis
