Santennay 1993, Adrien Belland, 13%, €27.50:At the bottom of the Côte de Beaune lies the village of Santenay, mentioned as a source of value Burgundy but rarely celebrated. However, Adrien Belland's wine is drop-dead delicious, earthy red fruits still vivid but fading, delicate texture with whispered intensity, the values and virtues of age. Limited quantities. From: Mitchells, Kildare Street, Dublin.

Pojega 2005, Ripasso Valpolicella, Guerrieri Rizzardi, 13.5%, €12.99 (down from €14.99):Ripasso (to repass) wines involve a technique in which juices of the Rondinella (85%) and Molinara grapes are passed over the pressed skins of Amarone grapes before spending a year in French oak. The result is an intense, dry, dark-fruited wine that demands strongly flavoured meat dishes. From: O'Brien's.

Pouilly-Fuissé 2005, Le Clos Reyssié, Bret Brothers, 13%, €35:The 04 Burgundy white vintage was good, but many believe that the 05 will be better and if this classy wine from 60-year-old vines in a key Maconnais property represents the mark, they could be right. A buttery citrus nose lined with minerality, lean and rich texture filling the mouth with hints of citrus, nuts and vanilla, well-judged balance and a long, lingering finish. From: Berry Brothers & Rudd, Harry Street, Dublin.
