Petit Bourgeois Sauvignon, Jardin de la France, Henri Bourgeois 2003 and The Wolftrap, Western Cape, Boekenhoutskloof 2002.
Petit Bourgeois Sauvignon, Jardin de la France, Henri Bourgeois 2003. From a celebrated producer of Sancerre, here comes a wine with similar characteristics - grassy aromas, ripe gooseberry flavours, penetrating freshness - at a much more tempting price, an extraordinary price, in fact, while stocks last! This is the kind of light, fruity, zippy summer white that everybody loves, so stock up. From O'Briens, down from €11.99 to 8.99 during May.
The Wolftrap, Western Cape, Boekenhoutskloof 2002. It's terrific to see such an affordable yet likeable wine coming from a winemaker as acclaimed as Marc Kent of the forward-marching Franschhoek estate, Boekenhoutskloof. With its luscious fruit and smoky, mineral overtones, this lively blend of Cabernet, Syrah, Pinotage and Cinsaut is a great package. Brilliant for barbecues. From Superquinn, currently reduced from 8.99 to 7.99.
