Château Court-Les-Mûts 2001, Beaune-Bastion 2002, Premier Cru and Marani 2004 Bianco Veronese
Château Court-Les-Mûts 2001, Saussignac, 50cl, €13.50(reduced from €16.50) This wonderfully balanced and intense dessert wine from southwestern France deservedly took the sweet-wine-of-the-year gong in The Best of Wine in Ireland 2007. From Wicklow Wine Company.
Beaune-Bastion 2002, Premier Cru, Chanson, 13.5%, €19.95(down from €25) O'Briens has a 1999 premier cru from Pommard, Domaine de Courcel's Grand Clos des Épenots, which is heaven in the glass but, at ¤69, hell on the pocket. This more modest Pinot Noir may not have the same depth or resonance, but it is still a charming and seductive wine at a great price. From: O'Briens.
Marani 2004 Bianco Veronese, Sartori, 13.5%, €9.95(down from €10.95) This is an enchanting soft golden wine, with strains of pear, almonds and honey, made from Garganega, the grape in Soave, outside Verona. Low in acidity but full of rich flavour and length. From Deveney's, Rathmines and Dundrum, Dublin; Fine Wines, Limerick.
