Museum Crianza 2002, Cigales, 13.5%, €13.95For bangs per buck, this is right on the money, with earthy, uncomplicated richness and dark fruit depth.
But big brother Museum Real Reserve 2002 adds another dimension for a few euro more. Chawke's, Limerick; Cheers outlets; Fresh outlets; Jus de Vine, Portmarnock, Co Dublin; McHugh's, Malahide Road and Kilbarrack Road, D5; O'Donovan's, Cork; and Sweeney's, Glasnevin, D9.
La Legua Capricho 2001, Cigales, 13%, €46The title is printed upside down as a graphical trick, but everything else about this classy wine is the right side up. It has a tempting perfume of red fruits, vanilla and chocolate, with good balance and soft tannins. Complex and medium-bodied, with a measured finish. From: BrechinWatchorn, Ranelagh and Terenure, D6.
La Legua Crianza 2001, Cigales, 13.5%, €12.40Another from the La Legua range. It's had two years in oak, so give it a little air to be rewarded with a spicy array of vanilla dark fruit, a medium-bodied texture and a chewy fruit-rich finish. Made for food, especially a nice juicy steak. From www.winesdirect.ie.
