The first ever Silver and Brass Big Bands event in Bundoran might help to end your summer on a high note

The first ever Silver and Brass Big Bands event in Bundoran might help to end your summer on a high note. The very best of the north-west’s top concert bands will perform music from popular and movie culture, as well as their own repertoire of big band concert sounds. The bands will play outdoors at the amphitheatre outside Bundoran’s Civic Offices on August 30th. Bands featured include St Eugene’s Band, Omagh, Churchill Silver Band and Sligo Concert Band.

And while you’re there, Donegal is a shot-in-the-arm for public art. From fire stations to roundabouts, bypasses, libraries and beaches, art is everywhere. The video series In Bundoran shows how Grace Weir’s “1,000 Silver Limpets” turned a car park into a veritable Aladdin’s cave. The painted-bronze “Double Daisy” on the seafront has a whiff of Jeff Koons and Claes Oldenburg about it. Tel: 071-9841350 or see www.discoverbundoran.com.
