À LA MODE Vintage Edwardian elegance, very modish at the moment, is the theme of Pat Whyte's current jewellery collection, which includes elaborate forehead pieces and pearly armbands. There is also a charm necklace, consisting of cameos, brooches, flower shapes and assorted ornaments in autumnal colours. Lace, felt and suede are also incorporated in many of the pieces. This collection is stocked by selected boutiques around the country. To get a full list call 01-6616577, or see www.patwhyte.ie

APRON STRINGS Adelle Hickey, who wrested aprons from the kitchen and glamorised them for the catwalk, has decided to sell her range directly to customers. The new collection of layered separates runs from grey, wool herringbone aprons for daywear, to black cotton laces and netting affairs for evening. It's a look easily tailored to most shapes, as domestic aprons were. Her signature stitched fabric embellishments and embroidery details such as pink, green or metallic blue ribbons all feature. Prices start at €100 for wool jersey and wrap tops, €120 for aprons and skirts, and €250 for long dresses. Contact her at 01-8069420 or e-mail onedaysoon@eircom.net.

FRIENDS OF DOROTHY It's not what you wear, but how you wear it, as the latest Dorothy Perkins catalogue illustrates. On hangars, the collections seem lifeless, and often uninspiring, but put together in a manner such as this combination of "corsage" jacket, cardigan and jeans, it's an individual, striking look. Jacket €71, ruffle-edge cardigan €48 and patchwork jeans €56.
