The hugely warm and affable cook, Mary Drum (above), who survived three gruelling rounds of competition - including a "surprise basket" round in which the unseen ingredients included a live lobster - to be named RTÉ's The Afternoon Show Cook of the Year last September, is running cookery classes in her home in Sutton, Co Dublin.

"The classes are small and intimate," Drum says, and the topics are right on trend, with low-fat recipes featuring on January 12th and February 4th, and cooking on a budget on January 30th and February 10th. Aga cooking classes are on January 14th and 27th, and the price of the instruction, recipe pack and lunch with wine, is €100. If you prefer, Drum will call to your house and give you a personal lesson, or you can get a group of friends together in her house or yours. See www.marydrum.com or book on 086-8594501.
