Tyrrell talks
French wine expert Simon Tyrrell will be speaking at two wine tastings early in December. On Wednesday, December 3rd, he will be at the Restaurant at Donnybrook Fair in Donnybrook, Dublin 4, for a five-course Burgundy and game dinner, featuring some of the great wines of Burgundy. The following night, December 4th, Tyrrell will talk on his favourite topic, the wines of the Rhône Valley, at a tasting and supper in the Burnaby, Greystones, on behalf of the Wicklow Arms, Delgany. The line-up, which covers both north and south Rhône, looks mouth-watering. Booking is essential (01-2871616).

Wine consultant Matthew Nugent will host two new wine courses at the recently opened Café Urbano in the IFSC, Dublin 1 from February 2009. Nugent's courses have been very popular in the past, and at €195-€220 for a six-week run, they offer good value for money.
