Luxury chocolate eggs made in a small Navan, Co Meath, factory will be devoured in Hong Kong, the UAE and all over the world this Easter.
The Giant Golden Lattice Egg is handmade by eight chocolatiers in just under an hour and is as extravagant as an Irish chocolate egg gets. It looks like the egg laid by the golden goose. These ornately gilded creations are made by Lir for M&S in a limited edition. Only 7,500 eggs have been produced, each with a limited edition number and priced at €60. They are also available in Irish M&S stores.
Extravagant colossal eggs are part of a trend towards families sharing one egg, instead of purchasing lots of smaller ones, and they make beautiful table centrepieces. Children will receive €75 each worth of eggs from family and friends this Easter, on average, clocking up 8000 calories. Lir and M&S’s show-stopping 5,770 calorie egg is created with milk chocolate delicately hand-piped and lustred with gold, then finished with a smaller dark chocolate golden lattice egg nestled in the centre.
Eight people help create the finely piped milk chocolate lattice, four people dust the egg with golden lustre and four people place each individual chocolate bead on the egg. The Giant Golden Lattice Egg has also been exported to Gibraltar and Norway.
