Irish racegoers don't go in for posh car park picnics with quite the same enthusiasm as their UK counterparts, but that could change. Naas cafe and food-to-go deli VDC@Home is offering some very upmarket hampers to racegoers passing their door en route to the Punchestown Festival meeting (April 28th-May 2nd).
There are three hampers on offer, each serving four people. They cost from €105 for a bottle of Gabilliard & fils Champagne, savoury canapes and mini desserts, to €135 for a classic race day hamper with Chablis and Bordeaux, rillettes, salads, sandwiches and desserts. They all come with a disposable picnic throw, napkins, wine opener and cutlery and glasses (they’re plastic; you might like to bring your own).
Hampers must be booked 48 hours in advance, and they will also be available for meetings at Naas and The Curragh. See vdchome.ie
