ELLIER DEVELOPMENTS will be mighty relieved with the sale of no less than 31 apartments at its swish Waterfront scheme in Hanover Quay, Dublin 2 - over half the units - since it went on sale last Thursday.
Some €25 million in sales is impressive at any time, but in the current gloomy times it's almost a miracle, especially as the prices were considered high.
Over 500 groups have walked through the development in the last week, admiring the room-sized balconies overlooking Grand Canal Basin; the Siematic kitchens and sophisticated bathrooms.
Of the apartments sold, just three were one-beds to the rear of the development, while 25 were two-bedroom apartments overlooking the water. Two very smart three-bedroom duplex apartments also found buyers which is no surprise, as these were master-of-the-universe style apartments with large roof terraces that could take 60 people for drinks, and a catering-style kitchen to match.
Not surprisingly, 80 per cent of the buyers intend to live in the scheme, if not immediately, then in a few years time. Lots of suburbanites came into town for the launch party, and some were instant converts to the docklands neighbourhood with its new cafés and shops. Well heeled parents also snapped up apartments for their children - a trend going on in all the best apartment schemes in the city.
We're very jealous.
