AN 1830s house in need of a major overhaul on the old Stillorgan Road, Stillorgan, Co Dublin, has had a 27 per cent price cut and is now for sale for €1.9 million. Dunstaffnage, right, a seven-bedroom house on 0.5 acres of garden, which comes with a swimming pool and woodland, went on the market last May for €2.6 million.
Colliers is handling the sale of the property, which lost a good deal of its garden over a decade ago when houses and apartments were built on part of the grounds in a scheme called Dunstaffnage Hall.
The 395sq m (4,250sq ft) two-storey period house is well screened from the modern development. It has had some refurbishment: a series of solar panels on the roof now provide hot water. The agent suggests that there is potential for a future owner to develop two to four houses subject to planning permission.
