The Morton family, owners of landmark pub Lamb Doyles on Blackglen Road, Sandyford, Dublin 18 has been granted planning permission for a development in its grounds.
The family will redevelop the pub and build 41 apartments on its grounds.
There will also be two retail units and a pub in three blocks ranging from three to five storeys and 148 car-parking spaces at ground, mid-basement and basement level and new entrances on Woodside Road and Blackglen Road.
In April they were refused planning permission by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council to build a scheme of a similar size. The reason given by the local authority was that the design would be visually unappealing, and the development was not high quality in terms of architectural merit, and would be contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.
The original two-storey pub dates from the 1870s but was rebuilt in the 1960s.
The current owners, the Morton family, bought the pub in 1992.
They have said they will be using the apartments to fund the €5.5 million redevelopment of the pub and restaurant.
