TheMarket:Lisney has dropped €600,000 from the price of a Victorian house on a quarter of an acre in Dalkey after a six month sales campaign failed to produce a buyer.
Eastmount on Knocknacree Road, high above the village and Dart station, went on the market in the spring with an AMV of €3.55 million. The price has now been dropped to €2.95 million - a cut of almost 17 per cent. Such price cuts are becoming more common at the upper end of the market which has slowed down considerably due to buyers' reluctance to trade up. Elsewhere in Dalkey the Ruth McKenna agency has dropped €600,000 from a large detached house on Saval Park Road called Lios na Mara, which has also been on the market for many months at €4.5 million. It is now asking €3.9 million.
Dalkey has seen some substantial cuts in asking prices this year. One of its most expensive homes, Sorrento House on Sorrento Terrace - a palatial residence with direct access to the sea, has had its price reduced from €30 million to €20 million by Sherry FitzGerald. The agent is holding firm on another Dalkey mansion, Monte Alverno, still for sale at €25 million.
