A 1.16-ACRE riverside site, which was formerly the offices of the first North-South body, the Foyle Fisheries Commission, is on the market for £975,000 sterling. The site has planning permission for 50 apartments and associated slipways and berthing, and is close to the Foyle Bridge on the outskirts of Derry city.
Two ice houses dating from 1850, when the Victoria Road site housed a salmon factory, are in the process of being designated as listed buildings and must be preserved. The site is owned by the Honourable Irish Society, the company that held much of the land surrounding Derry. The Foyle Fisheries Commission, which oversaw joint fishing interests in the Derry/Donegal area, was renamed the Loughs Agency as part of the Good Friday Agreement and has moved to new offices. Joint agents for the site are the Whelan Partnership and O'Connor Kennedy Turtle.
