Eighteen one and two-bedroom apartments at Swords in north Dublin are going on sale this week off the plans through agent Ross McParland's Donnybrook office. Prices from £129,500 should interest first-time buyers.
Carnegie Court, a mixed residential and commercial development, is being built to the side of and behind the picturesque Carnegie Library in North Street, which is a continuation of Main Street. The residential units will be accessed through an archway from North Street and are set out in courtyard style. A small number of apartments have been sold in previous phases, and the remaining 27 apartments and 13 two-bedroom townhouses will be coming on the market at a later date. The entire scheme is scheduled for completion by March of next year. Builder Seaview Limited has been responsible for a number of major projects, including the £2 million Aer Lingus leisure complex, a large housing scheme at Malahide for Dublin County Council and the new Swords Vocational School.
A great deal of attention has been paid to the external look of this scheme. Frontages will be of brick and natural stone, with granite Georgian-style cobbled courtyards and extensive planting. There are 11 one-bedroom and seven twobedroom apartments for sale in this phase.
The one-bedroom units vary in size from 538 to 592 sq ft and are priced from £129,500, while twobedroom units of 665 to 764 sq ft cost from £159,500. One free parking space in an underground car-park is allocated to each purchaser and there is lift access to the apartments overhead. Townhouses to be built later will have their own parking spaces in front.
Standard features of the Carnegie Court apartments will include a kitchen with white units, fitted wardrobes, white bathroom suites and white-painted internal walls.
A management company will be employed to look after day-to-day maintenance of the development. Estimated annual service charges will be £500 for one-bed apartments and £550 for twobedroom units. To view the uncompleted site, drive to the end of Swords Main Street, take a right and immediate left at the T-junction on to North Street and the development is visible on the old Harp Inn site.
