Like many coastal areas of the capital, Portmarnock has seen its share of growth in recent times with developments such as Kingsford Cross bringing new residents to the area.
More housing projects are in the pipeline for that general area and that has led to a growth in the demand for services.
It appears at least one Irish development and investment group has taken note of this after Ardale Property last week lodged a planning application with Fingal County County to develop a prominent site on Strand Road.
The site, formerly the Tin Church, is located on a high profile corner position within the village, at the junction between Strand Road and St Laurence O’Toole’s Avenue.
The total size of the site is 0.93 acres with the overall scheme set to have a total gross value in excess of €12 million.
The proposed development comprises a convenience retail store, with off-licence area, and is more than 2,000sq m.
The development is two storeys with the retail store located on the first floor and will have undercroft parking at ground level to facilitate 75 vehicles.
It is expected that the finished project will create more than 40 jobs, in addition to the jobs created during construction.
