Shopfront: TK Maxx may be best known as a place to buy inexpensive clothing but its stores in St Stephen's Green and Blanchardstown also sell things for the home.
It's not an easy place to shop - and there are a lot of very hideous cushions and weird ironmongery in the stores - but a through search will turn up surprisingly good stuff. And unusual too.
These baskets are about €10 and have an eco-feel thanks to a band of dried grass. You'd be surprised at those who shop at TK Maxx: interior designer Laura Farrell tipped us off about these baskets after she bought a few for a client. Goose down pillows can be had for €12 and there's good value too in kitchen pots, pans, cutlery and so on. Think of TK Maxx as a place to get extra things - pillows to sit under a better quality one, towels for kids, storage boxes - and save the rest for buying good stuff.
