BRINGING UP baby is always a mix of trial and error but a nursery stocked with good storage will help new mothers find their feet. The nursery at number 24 Foster Terrace (see related story) features a Stokke cot, a slick-looking oval-shaped design that is small enough to make newborns feel secure but also opens out to house growing babies, even evolving into a starter single bed.
This one bed will keep your little darling happy until they outgrow it, at age three or so.
It comes in a selection of finishes and the entire kit, which includes two different sized mattresses costs €829 from Greystones-based E Baby (01 2017557).
The room also has a pine blanket box painted by the owner, an artist and a chest of drawers complete with changing table on top. These are both available from Tony Kealy (01 4503966 or 01 8672757 and 021 5005500). The Boori toybox costs €325 and the Baby Elegant dresser €400.
The Scandinavian-style rocker, ideal for feeding time, was an InStore buy (1890 252508). Inreda (01 4760362) can source something similar, a Lamello chair from Swedese, from €1,064. This style comes in fabric or leather and there is a footstool.
