The Christian Brothers are seeking planning permission to build a seven-storey apartment development at Drimnagh Castle off the Longmile Road, Dublin 12.
In their planning application to Dublin City Council, the Brothers are proposing 131 apartments, comprising 88 two-beds, 24 one-beds and 19 three-beds with balconies and terraces plus penthouse.
There would also be a basement car park with 130 spaces, as well as a new access road from Slievebloom Park, and to Drimnagh Castle which is a protected structure.
The planning application comes at a time when many developers are postponing their plans for new home developments until the market picks up. Cosgrave Developments, the developers of Lansdowne Gate - beside the Christian Brother's 12-acre site - has opted to hold onto an entire 260-unit scheme. The furnished homes rent from €1,400 for two-bedroom units with car parking.
The brothers are also looking to improve facilities at their primary and secondary school on the site. These would include upgrading two playing pitches, a new surface car park at Drimnagh Castle Primary School and the provision of school drop-off areas at Slievebloom Park.
