Malahide/from €675,000: Anyone wanting to design and build their own one-off house may be interested in a Malahide site with outline planning permission for 25 large detached houses.
Called Myra Manor, the sites are being marketed separately by joint selling agents Noel Kelly and Gunne. Owners can build to their own specification, although a design code insists on a minimum size of 232.25 sq m (2,500 sq ft) and a maximum height of 2.5 storeys.
Plots range from €675,000 to €800,000 and sizes are from a quarter to half an acre approximately. The Myra Manor site is located off the Malahide Road, almost directly opposite Feltrim Road. Developer Birchwell will provide the basic drainage infrastructure and services, including cable television.
In order to set a standard for design and construction, proposals must be submitted to Fitzgerald Kavanagh & Partners for approval, prior to seeking full permission from Fingal County Council. Restrictions include the outlawing of uPVC window frames and lurid exterior paint finishes.
To avoid years of construction work on individual sites, work must begin within six months of the granting of planning permission and completed within ten months of commencement.
