Housebuilders rarely, if ever, choose to live on any of their own housing estates for the simple reason that they can expect to be pestered by buyers every time the water pressure is low or the stench from the sewerage system is high. One of the exceptions is Brian Cullen of Jackson Properties who moved into a beautiful Edwardian mansion at Butterfield Avenue in Rathfarnham long before he began developing an expensive scheme of houses in the back garden. Indeed, he was so impressed with his own period home that he opted to replicate the Edwardian features in the 74 houses being built around the perimeter of the site. Naturally he is confident that the high standard of workmanship on the site will mean he will not be bothered. And even if they want action on their snag list, buyers will have difficulty getting to the front door - Mr Cullen's house is protected by fencing and a security gate.
