Dublin City Council has approved plans for a residential scheme at a late Victorian era house in Clontarf.
Developer Mark Pigott has been given the go-ahead to build 37 apartments and nine townhouses at Redcourt House, which is on Seafield Road West in Clontarf, Dublin 3.
Four apartments will be provided in the 19th century redbrick house with the remaining apartments in a five-storey apartment block.
In 2006 plans to demolish the house and build 54 apartments were refused by the council and later by An Bord Pleanála.
Redcourt House first hit the headlines in 2005 when Pigott paid €7.5 million for the house on 1.65 acres - €3.3 million over its guide price.
The house originally stood on much larger grounds but a lot of this was sold off to build Redcourt Oaks, a neighbouring complex of apartments and duplexes.
In 2005 the developer took High Court proceedings against Dublin City Council over its proposal to add Redcourt House to its list of protected structures. Dublin City Council later consented to an order quashing the proposal.
