You’ve always been able to buy more house for your money in Cavan. Where else can you get a five-bed detached house for under €200,000 (see myhome.ie)? But a receiver in the town is now offering “Ballsbridge”-style apartments at pre-millenium prices.
Farnham Court in Cavan is a development of 60 one and two-bed high spec apartments in two blocks that are wired for smart home technology, have underfloor heating and parking. They’re located near Cavan General Hospital.
David Reynolds of Gunne Reynolds – who is selling them for receiver Declan Taite of FGS– says when the apartments were built in 2007, asking prices for two-beds were €240,000-€250,000.
Now Gunne Reynolds is selling two-beds for between €83,000 and €88,000.
One-beds start at €70,000 for the ground floor up to €73,000 for the second floor.
Features include wooden floors, balconies, and designated parking. Furniture costs an extra €3,000 for a one-bed and €4,000 for a two-bed.
The apartments are on view this weekend and David Reynolds says there been “a big buzz” surrounding the sale with enquiries pouring in.
“It’s more like a block in Ballsbridge than Cavan with high spec everything that you haven’t got in most blocks in the town. There’s not a lot available at this spec and the location is good near the hospital.”
He says they are not taking deposits until Saturday and the apartments will be sold on a first come first served basis .
The prices will send a shiver down the spine of vendors elsewhere in the town.
On myhome.ie there are a number of apartments selling for between €90,000 and €125,000.
Reynolds says 10 apartments in the development were let at €450 per month for one-beds and €580=€600 a month for two-beds.
