A 1930s house in Drimnagh, which has been renovated by interiors designer Elizabeth O'Connor, is for sale through Douglas Newman Good by private treaty for €470,000.

Number 130 Kilworth Road is a semi-detached former corporation house with three bedrooms and 130sq m (1,280sq ft) of living space.

O'Connor is selling it after carrying out a major renovation that included re-wiring and re-plumbing as well as replacing the windows and floors.

It is a fine example of what can be done with a modest house by someone with flair and imagination.

"It originally had a parlour room to the front, a kitchen to the back, two bedrooms and a tiny bathroom," says O'Connor. "When my husband and I bought it 2002 it had been almost untouched since the 1930s. It had a good big garden so we were able to extend."

The old parlour room (with original fireplace) is now a home office. The former kitchen at the back of the house now opens into a good-sized living and dining area.

The kitchen is fitted with maple units and stainless steel appliances. The livingroom has a new slate finish fireplace, Velux windows and double doors opening to the south-facing garden.

Upstairs, a third bedroom was added as part of the new extension. There are now two doubles and one single bedroom.

The main bedroom has an en suite bathroom and O'Connor put in a second full bathroom at this level. Both have pretty mosaic tiling and quality fittings.

The back garden has wooden decking, lawn and bedding. At the end of the garden is a utility room and shed which houses the washing machine, an extra fridge and storage.

The driveway at the front has parking for two cars. It is close to the Luas.
