The Whelan Partnership in Belfast is selling the former Ulster Bank's Edwardian banking hall at the corner of May Street and Victoria Street by tender with a closing date of October 10th. The building is located between the highly successful Laganside area around the Waterfront Hall and the proposed £200 million sterling shopping centre development by the Multi Development Corporation in Victoria Square. The 10,570 sq ft building has an ornate Portland stone and brick exterior. No guideline is being quoted but it closely resembles the Northern Bank on the opposite corner of Oxford Street which was sold during the summer for a reported £900,000.
Hamilton Osborne King, which acted on behalf of the Northern Bank in that sale, recently acquired the ground and first floors of the Corn Exchange Building on Victoria Street. This acquisition will result in the merging of the former Law Courts and Waring Street branches of the Northern with the new branch scheduled to open for business early in September.
