This week the old redbrick public toilets in the middle of the triangle in Ranelagh were reduced to a heap of bricks and any day now the entire triangle will be gone to make way for a change in the road line. As the demolition was required for road changing reasons, no planning permission was necessary.
The corporation has included the old triangle in its Urban Design Initiative and once the triangle and the loos are taken away the path on the north side of the road - along the Centra - will be widened to 10 metres.
Then the corporation will apply (to itself) for planning permission for a kiosk, lighting and possibly some outdoor seating.
