AN EXCLUSIVE rehab centre in Laragh, Co Wicklow, co-owned by businessman and The Apprentice star Bill Cullen, that went into liquidation before Christmas, has come on the market asking in excess of €550,000 through joint agents Knight Frank and Sherry FitzGerald O’Gorman O’Reilly.
Derrybawn Lodge is on four acres and was run as Forest Treatment Centre before it went into liquidation with accumulated losses of €305,000 and was at the centre of a bitter public row between Cullen and the other owner Declan Murphy. The centre opened at the height of the boom as Ireland’s answer to the Priory clinic and it is believed it charged wealthy clients with drug and alcohol addictions around €17,000 for an average three-week stay.
Prior to that it operated as a B&B. It has eleven double bedrooms with private facilities, two large reception rooms, a fully equipped commercial kitchen, dining room and large offices. There is also a self-contained apartment with its own front door.
Manicured lawns surround the property and there is access from the rear gardens directly to the surrounding woodland, with designated walks to Glendalough Lakes and the Wicklow Way.
The agents suggest it could be turned into a family home or another commercial enterprise.
