Athlone: from €330,000: A new launch at the Jolly Mariner Marina Village in Athlone features the last 20 apartments and townhouses in this riverfront scheme.
Joint agents Sherry FitzGerald New Homes and Sherry FitzGerald O'Meara are hosting an event in the Radisson SAS Hotel, Athlone on June 10th and 11th where a model will be on view and bookings accepted.
Sales were brisk when first launched in May 2005. Many buyers were attracted by the vista of a cruising holiday bolthole with a berth on the River Shannon, although first-time buyers and people downsizing in the area also featured strongly.
Prices start at €330,000 for two-bedroom apartments of 77-88sq m (830-950sq ft). Three-beds of 105-122sq m (1,125-1,310sq ft) cost from €550,000. Three-bedroom townhouses of 100sq m (1,010sq ft) start at €330,000.
The 100 berths in the marina are reserved for residents, priced from €40,000 upwards, depending on boat size.
A limited number are still available, according to the selling agents.
Construction is well advanced and those travelling to Athlone the weekend after next will be able to view the development's progress.
Developer John Lally of Lalco and designer Simon J Kelly have come up with an attractive mix of Scandinavian-style houses and apartments at this riverfront site, which is half a mile from the centre of Athlone.
There are views upriver to the Radisson Hotel and to the iron railway bridge over the River Shannon, while the train station is a 10-minute walk.
The Jolly Mariner development consists of 123 residences distributed among five buildings of varying sizes. Interiors will be fitted out to a high spec, with smart kitchens and bathrooms, en suite bedrooms, large wardrobes and high-tech cabling.
All apartments will have balconies or terraces with river views.
Previous schemes by Lalco Developments include the Old Chocolate Factory in Kilmainham and Vantage at Central Park, Leopardstown.
Completions are scheduled for the end of this year, according to the agents, so buyers could be moved in and moored at the marina by Christmas.
