Tuesday (April 12th):Sotheby's, New York. Auction to mark 50th anniversary of the first manned space flight by Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, in 1961. A Vostok 3KA-2 spaceship, which carried a life-size cosmonaut mannequin and a dog into orbit three weeks before Gagarin, sold for $2.9 million ($2m– $10m). It was bought by Russian businessman, Evgeny Yurchenko, chairman of the investment fund AS Popov.
