FORTHCOMING AUCTIONS:Tomorrow, Sunday (May 1st): P.J O'Gorman Auctioneers (Charleville, Co Cork). Auction at 2.30pm of property from the Sisters of Mercy. Venue for the auction is St Marie's of the Isle Primary School, Bishop Street, Cork. To include contents from the Convent of Mercy, Cobh, Co Cork and the Convent of Mercy, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford: life-size religious statues; church pews; refectory tables; a 19th century throne chair; musical instruments; glass and china. 350 lots. Viewing today from 3pm-6pm at Bishop Street and tomorrow from noon.

Monday (May 2nd): Victor Mee Auction Rooms, Cloverhill, Co Cavan. Antiques auction with 800 lots including furniture, jewellery, silver, coins, collectibles, garden furniture and field gates. Sixty lots, described as an “auto jumble of appeal to the vintage motoring enthusiast” will be sold on behalf of the Ireland Section of The Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease charity. Among them: a Scott Shipley 596cc. motor bike, Flying Squirrel model, first registration date 3rd August 1949, €2,500-€3,500; a 19th century dog cart made by Cooper Dwelly of Chard Ilminster, €1,500-€2,000; a 1939 Gurden American child’s pedal car, €250-€350; and a selection of advertising signs.

Tuesday (May 3rd): Matthews Auctions Rooms, The Square, Oldcastle, Co Meath. 6.30pm. Antiques auction featuring contents of house clearances. A William IV extending dining table, €4,000-€5,000; a Victorian burr walnut, half-tester double bed, €2,000-43,000; pair of gilt marble-top half-moon console tables, €800-€1,200.

Fine art, silver, jewellery, collectibles and furniture including a set of 12 19th Century Hepplewhite-style mahogany dining chairs, €1,000-€1,500. Viewing tomorrow, Sunday 2-6pm; Bank Holiday Monday, 2-6pm; and from 10am on the day of sale. Wednesday (May 4th): Mealy’s, Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny.
