Unable or unwilling to pay the prices now being sought for three-bedroom semis in the Dublin area, first-time buyers booked 20 two-bedroom terraced homes when they went for sale off the plans last weekend. The 770 sq-ft houses are being built on a section of the huge site owned by Menolly Properties at Navan Road, Dublin 15, close to the Dublin-Meath border. The company plans to build 36 of the units in six blocks, which will be completed in May and June. Brendan Byrne of the Ross McParland agency, which handled the development, said a number of the end houses were bought by investors in the expectation that they would get a good rental return. End houses were sold for £108,000, while mid-terrace units made £105,000. The remaining 16 two-bed homes are still for sale.
