ONE of Dublin's best-known snooker halls, located beside the Stag's Head bar at 4 Dame Lane, Dublin 2, is expected to make about £250,000 when it is auctioned on July 16th by Hamilton Osborne King. The building originally formed part off Helys Printing Works and it was used as a snooker hall from 1938 until around 1994. A former owner, the late John Hanlon, was the first Irish amateur snooker champion in 1936.

The building has 4,000 square feet on two floors and is full of character, with an exposed timber-trust roof at first-floor level. Pat Nolan of the selling agents says the building could be used for a variety of purposes, including a restaurant, art gallery, salesrooms, design studio, offices or fitness centre.
