An application to demolish Grassmere, once the home of former Irish Permanent managing director Dr Edmund Farrell, at Westminster Road, Foxrock, Dublin 18, is still being considered by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. A new two-storey house with a swimming-pool, basement, attic space, carport and tennis court is to be built on the 1.5 acre site. Grassmere, which was at the centre of a legal dispute between Mr Farrell and the Irish Permanent, was sold for £1.8 million in 1998. The application to demolish it has been made in the name of P Pirolimian Limited.
